| Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D) provides more than 141,000 people with print disabilities with the books they need to learn and succeed. RFB&D volunteers produce books-on-CD that will help children and adults access the educational materials they need to finish elementary and high school, and in order to pursue higher education. All of RFB&D's books-on-CD are read and directed by volunteers. Volunteer Directors monitor readers, and work with Pre-production Volunteers and Editors to produce books-on-CD. If you are detail-oriented and enjoy working with technology, this is the perfect volunteer position for you! Skills Volunteer Directors must: - commit to volunteering at least three hours per week in our Studio, which has morning, afternoon and evening availability during the week. - Have an "ear" for detail. Directors monitor volunteer readers for accuracy and ensure high quality recordings. - like working with a team! You'll work with other volunteers as you help RFB&D produce books-on-CD. RFB&D is especially excited about volunteers who: - have basic (or even advanced) computer skills. However, even if you're not very computer savvy, we can train you to use our simple systems. - have expertise in a certain area. RFB&D always needs lawyers, doctors and other professionals! - know another language, whether at the beginner level or fluently! Ad provided by Idealist.org |
