The Specialty Sales Executive will work closely with staff in the marketplace to achieve specialty sales goals, retain current clients and contribute to the profitable growth of Humana Specialty Benefits. Some responsibilities of the position will be the following:
- Develop strong relationships with brokers and consultants based on shared values and objectives.
- Provide support to a team that is passionate about delivering perfect service to our customers and partners
- Educate the marketplace on our specialty products and how the customer benefits from the products and service that we provide them.
- Identify and communicate to senior management specific market intelligence to help maintain and improve Humana Specialty Benefits position locally and nationally.

You identify and leverage business development opportunities. You embody the brand promise "Guidance When You Need It Most" through account retention activities with the medical account management team.
- Acts Strategically: You foster a consistent understanding of the corporate strategy translate it into defined plans and "stay the course" to implement it. You anticipate and identify where change is needed and then drive change.
- Is Consultive: You gain understanding of the customer's business, industry and trends. You develop collaborative partnerships, elicit client understanding and insight to then lead to solid recommendations.
- Broad Competitive Intelligence: You understand the competitive, industry and regulatory environment of the local marketplace and how the components of Humana's business model interrelate with those dynamics
- Influencing Others: You raise potential risks as they are recognized, exercise courage to represent your own perspective while challenging the status quo and gain buy-in from multiple levels within Humana and related communities. You take actions that are right even when they are unpopular.
Role Essentials
- Minimum of 3 years sales experience in the employee benefits industry (Dental, Life, Vision, Disability, or Voluntary Benefits)
- Proven sales success in previous employment
- Possess current resident Life & Health license
- Strong, existing relationships with local brokers, agents & consultants
- Knowledge of the local marketplace including key competitors specializing in specialty products
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or a related field
Role Desirables
- Proficiency in each of these: Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes and Access Database
- Ability to develop annual business plans, monitor ongoing progress and make changes quickly
- Ability to handle multiple products / tasks simultaneously
- Proven record of developing strong relationships with an internal sales team, underwriting, network development, marketing, customer service and actuarial departments
